About Almedalsbiblioteket

Almedalsbiblioteket is an integrated public and university library, located directly adjacent to the Uppsala University – Campus Gotland between the harbor and park area Almedalen in Visby.

With its unique location in Almedalen the library is a natural and inviting gathering place for residents as well as visitors to the world heritage city of Visby and the surrounding island.

In the library you can take advantage of our offers while enjoying a view over Visby's medieval house gables and the sea.

Operational values

The library should be a library for all, serve as a meeting place for people with different information needs and become a link between the university and the Gotland community. The library will provide for all segments of society a complete library service and act as a knowledge and learning as well as a cultural center.

Activities must be designed so that they best convey various types of library services and meet different user groups. In the library different skills from the library and the campus should work together. Development issues should be given a high priority.

The library should be a unifying and stimulating resource for all the region's libraries. The should be open and welcoming. The premises shall have different places, designed to support meetings and activities, and also an abundance of reading and study areas.
